Week 3... Rain rain, go away!
Yesterday was supposed to be our 3rd weekend training meet for TnT. So I got up really early, had a healthy breakfast (oatmeal, banana and soy milk), and headed over to Peoria Heights. The coach was there, and a couple other people showed up shortly after I did. We were ready to start running, but then the lightning started. And the thunder. The clouds off in the distance looked dark and menacing. I figured we could just run really fast and beat the storm. ;-) Like I can run "really fast". HA!
Well, the coach said they're not supposed to have team training runs if there is lightning in the vicinity, so we had to cancel the group run before we even started. What a bummer! I got back in my car and headed home. Then the rain started. I figured it would be a quick storm - that I could just wait an hour or two, and then do my run. But things would not be so simple. The rain was persistant. Eventually I conceded to the fact that I wouldn't be able to do my 6-mile run that day. Sure, I could run on the treadmill, but my in-laws were visiting and were sleeping the next room over. I didn't want to disturb them with the noisy pounding of the treadmill.
So I waited and hoped that Sunday morning would be dry. And fortunately, it was. I got up early this morning (but not as early as yesterday!) and did my 6-mile run. It was very humid, but at least it wasn't raining. Hopefully next weekend I'll be able to train with the team. Stay tuned for more....
