Week 16 and 17... ummm... yeah.... I'm a little behind
Where has the time gone??? I do apologize to the fan(s) of my blog. I have completely lost track of time and haven't posted updates for 2 weeks. Eek! Let me provide a quick recap...
Week 16 - The hubby and I traveled down to southern Indiana for Thanksgiving, so I did my recovery run in the rather hilly town of Mt Vernon. 100 minutes - I did just a smidge over 8 miles. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and it was really a perfect run (except for the hills - we all know how much I adore hills). I ran past a Dairy Queen twice, and managed to keep my Blizzard cravings under control. ;-)
Week 17 - Well, this was just a disaster. I was planning to do 20 miles. But the Friday before my big run, we had a huge blizzard (and not the kind you can get at DQ) and there was a layer of ice covered by a foot of snow. Our team traning meet was canceled. My coach instructed me to do 2 treadmill sessions of 8-10 miles each - one on Saturday and one on Sunday. I felt so bad about not being able to do a true long run, that I did both of my treadmill sessions the same day (Saturday). One in the morning and one in the evening. I did 10.2 miles in the morning, and it nearly killed me. After resting for several hours and getting some food, I took another stab at it and did 6.1 miles. I wanted to do 8 miles in my second session, but my foot started hurting in a bad way, and it was just plain HARD. I was fully prepared to run 20 miles outdoors, but the treadmill is a different animal. I am just not used to going that far on the hamster wheel. So I managed to get in a little over 16 miles, which isn't bad. I'll still have a chance to do 20 miles on December 16. Let's hope we don't get any more snow between now and then!
Next up on the training schedule is a 100 minute recovery run. I love recovery runs. :-) Especially if they're not on the treadmill.
